We should learn to depend on Krishna more and more. Actually, Krishna is always guiding us as Supersoul, but due to our forgetfulness, we do not understand that Krishna is friend everlasting. With advance of Krishna Consciousness one is able to realize that Krishna is always with His devotees -- not only with His devotees, also with the non-devotees, but the devotees can recognize His Presence and the non-devotees cannot. The more you make advancement in Krishna Consciousness you will see Krishna everywhere. Not only on the bank of the river, but also on streets, trees, lampposts, and so on. The more you see like that you know you are making tangible advancement in Krishna Consciousness. Actually, there is nothing but Krishna all around us. This is explained in the Gita. He is the taste of water, light of the moon, the fragrance of the flower, light of the sun, sound of the sky, the power of the strong and so on. so one who is actually making progress in Krishna Consciousness, he can see Krishna everywhere. At every stage of life, who can avoid the sunlight, the moonlight, the fragrance of the flower, the taste of the water, the sound of the sky, and so on; but one has to learn it, that there is Krishna in all these varieties of existence. Without Krishna there is nothing. It is simply by the influence of Maya that we forget the relationship of Krishna with everything that be.
Simply always chant Hare Krishna and with faith in Krishna and the Spiritual Master. I am very glad Krishna is helping you and He will help you more and more in the future.

In this series we show various changes found in the 1972 edition of the Bhagavad-gita As It Is and how they change the meaning of Srila Prabhupada's words. It is understood that while editing, sometimes words are changed for clarity. Therefore, in these series of articles, we try to avoid spending too much time focusing on changes that alter the words with the purpose of giving the intended meaning in the original writing more force. With each change discussed we present the original spoken dictation as recorded by Srila Prabhupada on February the 19-20th 1966, the same passage in the 1972 Macmillan edition and finally our humble commentary.
"Now here is a direction that Bhagavad-gita is especially instructed to Arjuna, the devotee of the Lord, the direct student of Krsna. And not only that, he is intimately in touch with Krsna as friend. Therefore Bhagavad-gita is understood by a person who has similar qualities like Krsna. That means he must be a devotee, he must be in relation, direct relationship with the Lord. "
(Introduction to Gitopanisad (Earliest Recording of Srila Prabhupada in the Bhaktivednta Archives) Bhagavad-gita Introduction, New York, February 19-20, 1966.)
"So we see that Bhagavad-gita is instructed to Arjuna especially because Arjuna was a devotee of the Lord, a direct student of Krsna, and His intimate friend. Therefore Bhagavad-gita is BEST understood by a person who has qualities similar to Arjuna's. That is to say he must be a devotee in a direct relationship with the Lord." (Bg introduction - 1972 edition)
The editor certainly adjusted the text here in various ways and he has done a great job by not diverting the meaning in any way. He also switched "similar qualities to Krsna" for "similar qualities to Arjuna", which is a sensible correction most certainly approved by Srila Prabhupada. So the meaning is not changed, except for one word that was unnecessarily inserted. The word "best" changes the meaning of the sentence quite a bit. Although Srila Prabhupada says without any diversion that the Bhagavad-gita is understood by a person who has similar qualities like Arjuna, the 1972 edition makes it appear that persons who do not possess qualities similar to Arjuna can also understand the Bhagavad-gita. Only their understanding is perhaps not the best. We find such insertion completely unnecessary and confusing. Srila Prabhupada here in this portion explains that Arjuna was a perfect devotee who has attained, or who is eternally situated in his svarupa-siddhi (perfection of one's relationship with the Lord). This is not the position of every devotee. Only a devotee on the top most platform of spiritual life is so situated.

.It is an understood principle in the Vedic tradition that the words of the spiritual master should not be changed in any way. The guru is not an ordinary man subjected to the four defects of human frailty. Therefore whatever he writes is perfect. Being in direct connection with Krsna, his words are dictated by the Lord Himself.
Srila Prabhupada in his manifested lila engaged some of his early disciples in the service of editing his manuscripts and transcripts of his dictation tapes. They were to correct the technicalities of the language for clarity and never change any of the intended meanings in his books. Being initiated and therefore somehow already familiar with the philosophy of Krsna consciousness by following Srila Prabhupada, they would understand the meaning from his rough manuscripts or dictations and then present the same meaning in a polished and grammatically correct English. That's all. Since these very early editors were able to understand Srila Prabhupada's words quite clearly, in no way should Srila Prabhupada's original words be considered incomplete or incomprehensible. As the early editors could understand, certainly new devotees can also understand, especially now when the full body of Srila Prabhupada's vani can be now also consulted with lectures, conversations, and other books.

I want to offer my deepest respects and gratitude to Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada because without him I and so many others in the West would never have known about Krishna.
RESPONSE TO THE OBJECTIONS REGARDING THE ARTICLE ON ORIGINAL BOOK CHANGES
by Makhancora dasa
The following is an email that I received from our friend, bhakta Greg. He raised few concerns regarding the
"WHY ARE THE ORIGINAL BOOKS CHANGED?"
article. Here is the text sent by bhakta Greg followed by my response:
Hare Krsna Prabhus,
I am writing to you in regard to a paper you recently published entitled "WHY ARE THE "ORIGINAL BOOKS" CHANGED"?
self-gratificatory pursuits are opposed to Krishna consciousness and occupational duties outside of Krishna consciousness are self-gratificatory pursuits
Im not sure if Prabhupada authorised Hayagriva to change that edit and it seems your not sure wheither he authorised that particular edit or not.
Self-gratification is not encompassed in Krishna consciousness as a result of Krishna consciousness bringing one to being self satisfied, only when the ego pretends that the self is Krsna can this "self-gratification" be presented falsely as "Krsna-gratification". "Krsna-gratification" is what Krsna consciousness is about. You've published a paper which in essence said "what's wrong with a bit of self-gratification as long's in Krsna consciousness?" , the main problem with it is that Krsna created the whole material world for you to engage in self-gratification and its better to be honest with yourselves use the material world for its intended use rather than attempting to bring something like self-gratification into Krsna consciousness which has no place in it just as Prabhupada described that the real pleasure of the female or Prakriti is gained not in pleasing itself but from pleasing the male or Purusa. The self does attain gratification in Krsna consciousness but to put it as the primary before Krsna even in a phrase like "self-gratificatory" and call it Krsna consciousness or even compatiable with Krsna consciousness is false.
A startling insight into the changes in the "original books" of Srila Prabhupada!
by Makhancora dāsa
For many years we have been developing a more clear understanding in regards to the controversy that has arisen around the books of our spiritual master, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda. This article is the result of that endeavor. Those who sincerely try to follow his instructions cultivate and fully accept the idea that his vāṇi cannot be adulterated, because the pure message descending from the ācārya on his disciples is the essence of the paramparā, disciplic succession.
The following is a debate over our endeavor to preserve Srila Prabhupada´s teachings by re-editing his books "back to the original way". Our opposition came from the devotees, who profess the idea that the first printings of Srila Prabhupada´s books are the originals approved and blessed by him and that the first editions printed during his physical presence should not be touched despite the obvious and proven fact that many meanings were lost, omitted or changed. Our standpoint is that the order of Srila Prabhupada that the next printing should be back to the original way stands above his blessings for the books printed in his physical presence. In this debate we have shown evidence that the "original books" as many devotees conceive of them are not what they may seem to be. To read, download the pdf. Hare Krsna!
the B.L.I.S.S. Book Editing Project Opposition Defeated
by His Divine Grace A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada
Now, sometimes Bhagavad-gita is misinterpreted that this battle, I mean to say, dharma-ksetra kuru-ksetra means "this body." We do not misinterpret in that way. There is no question of misinterpretation. We are presenting Bhagavad-gita as it is. We do not change by our whimsical imagination, concoction. We do not interpret the words of the Bhagavad-gita according to our own desire. No. Actually, from literary point of view, interpretation is required when things are not understood very clearly. The interpretation required. In the law court, when the lawyers try to interpret before the judge, when the terms are not very clear... That is the same way, in, in, amongst the associates and society of learned scholars. Interpretation is not required when the things are very clear. Just like the sun, sunshine, sunlight. There is no need of a lamp to show the sun. The sun is self-effulgent. It is already there. Light is there. Why one should take a lamp to show the sun? This misinterpretation has killed the spirit, the real essence, of Bhagavad-gita.
So there was so many editions and so many misinterpretation. Our, this Krsna consciousness movement, our proposition is that we are, I mean to say, presenting Bhagavad-gita as it is. We do not misinterpret.
